Feelin' Film

In a time when film criticism is as provocative as ever, Feelin' Film ventures to change the discussion from what we hate about a film to what we love about it. We judge more on emotional experience than technical merit. Every movie makes us feel something.

We celebrate the kick-off of football season by discussing Rudy, our August Donor Pick. This film provided us with a great opportunity to debate whether made-up content in a biopic can affect our level of inspiration. We also spend plenty of time gushing about all of the reasons Rudy is one of our favorite football movies.

This is a re-release of an episode that was recorded for the now defunct podcast Feelin' Film Plus. We had a conversation about the first season of the anime Tokyo Ghoul and wanted it to be available for you. The show presents a world in which humans must co-exist with a race of human-like creatures who require flesh for sustenance. As you can imagine there are plenty of ethical questions to discuss and we do our best to consider them justly.

In this episode, we examine a film considered to be a classic but which also has a huge amount of relevance in today’s cultural landscape. Our conversation about the 1957 directorial debut of Sidney Lumet is one we've been excited about for quite a while. It is a film that truly does make us feel many different emotions, and connecting with this one was not a problem. We hope you enjoy and would love to hear your thoughts on why 12 Angry Men is special to you.

We welcome back the boys from Retro Rewind Podcast this week to have a conversation about a movie that we all have great affection for. TRON: Legacy is undeniably one of the most visually incredible films ever made and has a score by Daft Punk that is universally loved. But is that all, or is there more to this unique story of AI and a humanized digital landscape? Join us as we talk about how this film made us feel and more.

This week we are talking about one of our biggest theater regrets of 2016. This beautiful stop-motion animated picture is magical, fantastical, and has a great story centered around a special family. As much as any movie we've discussed recently, Kubo and the Two Strings brings out the feelings and makes for great conversation.
