Feelin' Film

In a time when film criticism is as provocative as ever, Feelin' Film ventures to change the discussion from what we hate about a film to what we love about it. We judge more on emotional experience than technical merit. Every movie makes us feel something.

We don't take sides in this gang war, but we certainly lean more toward love than hate when discussing the all-time great musical. West Side Story is beloved by many, and for very good reason. Its themes of star-crossed love and race in America are handled with some of the best and most unique choreography ever produced. Mix in the many memorable songs and its easy to see why this is considered one of the best musicals ever made.

This week we relish the opportunity to talk about a movie that brings us genuine joy and is unlike anything else coming out of Hollywood this year. There is a purity to the story of Sing Street that will resonate with audiences. We dig into its themes and also spend plenty of time reminiscing about what could end up being our favorite film of 2016.

Aaron & Patrick give a second chance to a film that could also be considered a classic, or at the very least the best disaster movie ever made. Maybe, maybe not, but it's certainly full of emotional impact, excitement, and explosions. That makes for a fun discussion.

Another DC superhero movie, another wave of negative reviews. But is there enjoyment to be had in this film? We think so and highlight all the best parts of what turned out to be a surprisingly fun film despite its flaws.

We kick off the 2016 Summer Olympics by talking about arguably the greatest film ever made within the setting. The themes are deep and emotional content wide in this powerful story about class, religion, and honor.
